A Modern Search for Gold on Lake Abitibi
Tangcoh Gold Inc. was formed in 2007 (name changed in 2009 to Solid Gold Resources Corp) to explore the "untested gold potential" in an area of "... clustered distribution of significant gold deposits."* and also because "...the potential deformation (fault) zones have not been explored for their gold potential"**
The first gold deposit exploited in northeastern Ontario was in 1906, on an island in south Lake Abitibi, this along with the presence of gold in nearby eskers suggests that one or more undiscovered gold deposits exists in the Lake Abitibi area. The OGS BRiM project (McClenaghan, 1991), a comprehensive overburden sampling program, returned some very high anomalous gold values (see 43-101 SG report pg.17), confirming the gold potential of the area.
The Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone in Ontario, Canada, is one of the richest gold-producing districts in the world. Over the past hundred years prospectors searching for mineralization on surface have discovered spectacular gold deposits clustered all along the trend, extending from Timmins, Ontario, to Val d'Or, Quebec. So far, more than 110 million ounces of gold have been produced from the region.
Solid Gold Resources Corp. controls a +/-200-square-kilometre prospect hosting multiple-deposit potential in the heart of the famous Porcupine trend at Lake Abitibi.
